In 1927, a special house was built in Kharkiv by order of Stalin. The best Ukrainian artists settled here - poets, writers, artists and directors. The very opportunity to live here was already recognition for the creators of that time. One day, a new person appears in the house. He works as a press proofreader and, above all, dreams of joining the cohort of leading writers. To settle here, he really needed a talent - the talent to eavesdrop and tell everything he heard to an NKVD agent. The historical drama “House “Word”. An Unfinished Novel” was filmed by Taras Tomenko based on a script he wrote together with Lyubov Yakymchuk. In 2017, he shot the documentary “House “Word””, the work on which inspired further research into the era and personalities. The feature film project became one of the winners of the competition from the State Film Agency and received state funding, which covered half of the production costs.
